Dr. Fulmer is a 2012 graduate of the UAB School of Optometry and completed an ocular disease and primary care residency at the Thomas E. Creek VA Medical Center in Amarillo, TX. Her interests include disease management, particularly glaucoma, uveitis, dry eye, and neurology-related cases, as well as educating students and colleagues through lecturing and writing. She is an active member in the American Academy of Optometry and currently serves her profession as a member of the Board of Directors of the Alabama Optometric Association and as President of the North Alabama Optometric Association.
Born in Huntsville, Dr. Fulmer grew up in northeast Alabama and was valedictorian of her class at Westbrook Christian School in Rainbow City. She then attended the University of Alabama where she fed her love of travel through two study abroad programs, one at Oxford University and one in Italy, and her love of football through being a Recruit Hostess for the Alabama football program. She majored in Art History with a focus in pre-medical studies, completed multiple Honors programs, and graduated Summa Cum Laude. It was during her time at UA that Dr. Fulmer discovered her desire to serve her community through eye care and made the decision to pursue her optometric career at UAB.
Dr. Fulmer returned to Huntsville in 2013 and has loved becoming a part of such a thriving city. She enjoys spending time with her family and giving back through volunteering including serving on the board for HEALS, inc., an organization that focuses on providing healthcare to our in-need youth. She met her husband, Mark, in 2016, and the two were married in January 2019. Together, they spend their time spoiling their fur-babies, Baxter and Ares, traveling, attending concerts, and exploring the outdoors through kayaking and hiking.
Dr. Fulmer is proud and excited to be able to take care of the residents of the Huntsville metro area and hopes to see you soon as part of the Legacy Vision Center family.
